Oil recycling at Olalla Recycling and Garbage Station temporarily closed

The used motor oil recycling area at Olalla Recycling and Garbage Station is temporarily closed until further notice due to tank contamination, according to the Kitsap County website on April 21.

Rick Gilbert, the county’s Moderate Risk Waste Program manager, reported that someone placed contaminated oil into the county’s recycling tank.

Motor oil is not accepted as garbage and cannot be disposed of on the ground or in storm drains.

Other locations in South Kitsap that accepted used motor oil are Auto Zone, 1414 SE Lund Ave.; O’Reilly Auto Parts, 3311 Bethel Rd. SE; and Walmart, 3497 Bethel Rd. SE.
