Fire crews respond to blaze

Fire crews from South Kitsap Fire Rescue and Mason County Fire District No. 2 responded to an April 19 fire about 11 p.m. on West Belfair Valley Road.

SKFR Captain Nathan Post reported when firefighters arrrived that heavy fire and smoke was coming from a double-wide mobile home.

The occupants escaped unharmed and stayed with neighbors until the Red Cross provided temporary lodging.

Post said there was heavy damage from smoke and fire throughout the structure. Multiple cats were found inside the home and were taken to their owners with minor injuries.

The Kitsap County Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire.
