Public hearing on proposed lake management district formation set April 28

A public hearing on the proposed formation of a lake management district for Long Lake will be held during at 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 28, during the regular business meeting of the Kitsap County Board of County Commissioners.

It will be held in the Commissioners’ Chambers of the Kitsap County Administration Building, 619 Division St.

Commissioners will take public testimony related to a proposed special assessment on property owners within the district boundary to fund Long Lake management activities aimed at reducing the level of noxious lake weeds, maintaining boating lanes, reducing potentially toxic blue-green algae, and improving wildlife habitat and the quality of living for those residing on and around the lake.
