Woman jumps to death off Tremont Bridge
An autopsy report shows that a woman, who jumped off the Tremont Bridge Aug. 14, died as a result of blunt force to the head, neck, chest and abdomen, according to the Kitsap County Coroner Greg Sandstrom.
Sandstrom said the manner of death was suicide. The autopsy was performed by the Coroner’s Office on Aug. 15.
South Kitsap Fire and Rescue, Port Orchard police and Kitsap County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the bridge about noon after a person witnessed an individual jumping off the bridge, according to SKFR Battalion Chief Ron Powers.
The agencies confirmed the woman fell approximately 150 feet and was found dead under a heavy tree canopy. The agencies were involved in the investigation.
The victim was a 32-year-old from Port Orchard, according to Port Orchard Police Commander Dale Schuster.
Powers said SKFR crews were dispatched at about 11:49 a.m. to the bridge after a person reported an individual jumping off the bridge.
One lane of Tremont was shut down as SKFR crews used a rope haul system to transport the victim to the recovery location.
