A 64-year-old South Kitsap man died in Manchester State Park Friday morning, the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The deceased was identified by the Kitsap County Coroner’s Office as John Bailey, 64, of Woods Road.

Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Deputy Scott Wilson said Bailey was walking the trails in the park with his wife when he became ill. His wife ran to notify a park ranger, who then called 911 at 8:35 a.m. April 3.

Wilson said there was “nothing of a suspicious nature” regarding Bailey’s death, and it appeared he died of natural causes.

Wilson said Bailey was well-known to the ranger and park volunteers as he came out there regularly to walk the trails.
