The drizzling rain let up just long enough on Saturday afternoon to allow for the usual yearly antics that accompany Port Orchard's one-of-a-kind Seagull Calling Contest.
Hundreds lined the railing and watched as more than 60 contestants screeched, cooed, cajoled and plied an equal number of bemused but appreciative seagulls with bread, Cheetos, french fries, cookies and other confections.
Esteemed judges for the event included Port Orchard Mayor Lary Coppola, South Kitsap Commissioner Charlotte Garrido, Port Orchard Police Chief Al Townsend and South Kitsap Fire and Rescue Chief Wayne Senter - each decked out in a robe and white wig for the occasion.
Contest winners included:
* Best costume -- Savannah Brown;
* Most authentic call -- Drew Schaffer;
* Most called -- Nick Finney; and,
* Best group -- The Sea Gals from Sammamish.
