Former Port Orchard City Councilman Rick Wyatt and his wife Linda were injured in a car accident Sunday afternoon, the Washington State Patrol reported.

According to the accident report, the Wyatts, both 62, were traveling north on State-Route 3/106 near Belfair when their car went off the road around 1:30 p.m. May 10.

The trooper who responded noted that Rick Wyatt “failed to negotiate a curve” and his vehicle, a 2003 GMC Envoy, drove down an embankment and struck a sign.

The driver, who was not wearing his seatbelt, suffered a head laceration and was transported to Harrison Hospital in Bremerton. His wife, who was wearing her seatbelt, was also transported to Harrison with back pain.

WSP is investigating the cause of the crash.
