Port Orchard soldier dies in Iraq

A 20-year-old Port Orchard resident serving in Iraq was killed May 30 in Tallil, according to the Department of Defense.

Pfc. Samuel D. Stone died of injuries suffered in what was described as a “non-combat related vehicle roll-over.” He served in the Army National Guard and was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 303rd Cavalry Regiment out of Bremerton.

The incident is under investigation.
