Port Orchard girl injured in Belfair crash

A 9-year-old Port Orchard girl was injured Tuesday afternoon when the car she was riding in was struck near Belfair Elementary School, the Washington State Patrol reported.
According to the incident report, the victim was a passenger in the 2001 Ford Focus a 32-year-old Port orchard woman was driving on State-Route 3 near Belfair Elementary School.
The trooper investigating said that the Port Orchard woman, headed south on SR-3, turned left into Belfair Elementary School and was broadsided by a 1998 Dodge Dakota pick-up headed northbound.
The driver of the Dakota pick-up, a 51-year-old Tahuya man, is suspected of driving while intoxicated. He was transported to Harrison Hospital in Bremerton with back and neck pain.
The 32-year-old woman refused treatment, but the 9-year-old girl was transported to Harrison Hospital with face and head lacerations.
