A 32-year-old woman was thrown into a ditch after being struck by a car on Beach Drive Monday evening, the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office reported.

According to the incident report, the victim said she was riding her bicycle eastbound on Beach Drive near Wynn Jones Road shortly before 6 p.m. Sept. 21. As she rounded a sharp curve with no shoulder, she said she was struck when a large, white pick-up truck pulling a large, white trailer passed her, also headed eastbound.

She said the trailer hit her or her bicycle, knocking her off her bicycle and into a ditch. She said the truck did not stop or slow down, and she is not sure the driver was aware that she had been hit.

The victim was wearing a helmet. She suffered cuts and scraps to her elbow and was complaining of back pain. She was treated by South Kitsap Fire and Rescue Personnel, but was not transported.
