A South Kitsap man riding a motorcycle suffered a broken leg and possibly a broken hip after being struck by a SUV on Lund Avenue, the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office reported.

According to the incident report, the 47-year-old victim was headed eastbound on Lund Avenue on a 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle around 3:30 p.m. Oct. 8 when he was hit by a 2000 Ford Expedition driven by a 25-year-old Port Orchard resident.

According to the drivers and witnesses, the SUV was stopped at a stop sign on Chase Road and had started to turn left onto westbound Lund Avenue when he struck the motorcyclist.

The SUV driver said that the motorcyclist was traveling behind a black truck that turned onto Chase Road, and he did not see the motorcycle before turning.

The driver of the SUV was cited for failure to yield.
