Deer causes Olalla motorcycle accident; victim in serious condition

A 40-year-old woman was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center after she was thrown from a motorcycle Saturday night.

According to a Washington State Patrol (WSP) report, at approximately 11:30 p.m. the driver of the motorcycle collided with a deer that jumped the guardrail and landed in the lane they were traveling on.

The woman, a passenger, was thrown from the motorcycle and sustained head injuries.

The driver, a 50-year-old man sustained only minor injuries to his left hand.

The accident occurred on State Route 16 west of Burley Olalla Road.

Both driver and passenger were reportedly wearing helmets.

According to a Harborview spokesperson this morning, the woman was initially listed in critical condition but later upgraded to “serious.”
