Shooting victim taken to South Kitsap fire station

A South Kitsap man was transported to Tacoma General Hospital yesterday after sustaining a single gunshot wound to his torso.

According to Kitsap County Sheriff’s Deputy Scott Wilson, the man appeared to be in his mid-40’s.

The man was driven by friends to South Kitsap Fire and Rescue (SKFR) Station 16 located on State Highway 3 in Gorst seeking medical attention.

After initial assessment and emergency first aid, a SKFR medic unit transported the wounded man to the hospital in Tacoma.

He was later reported in stable condition.

Kitsap County Sheriff's detectives are continuing to investigate as a motive for the shooting is unknown at this time.

Detectives believe that the man was shot around 6 a.m. at a residence in the 3900 block of Victory Drive SW, South Kitsap.
