State Representative Position 2 Legislative District 26

Doug Richards, Port Orchard (Prefers Republican Party)

Q: What background and experience do you bring to this office?

A: I am a 31-year resident of Kitsap County and a 1997 graduate of South Kitsap High School. After school, I joined the Navy, serving on the USS Carl Vinson in the Persian Gulf earning an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.

Upon leaving the Navy, I joined the fire service and after 20 years, am still currently serving as a Battalion Chief at South Kitsap Fire Rescue.

I earned a Bachelor of Science from Eastern Oregon University and attended the Management Science curriculum at the National Fire Academy.

I am a resident of Port Orchard with my wife, three daughters and son. I have been a small business owner, building over 25 homes on the Kitsap peninsula, an active member in my church and a recognized leader in the community.

Q: If elected, what will be your top three priorities, and how will you accomplish them?

A: I believe in the American spirit of liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I also believe that the current economic conditions will only be bettered by ccreating jobs, reducing the size of government and helping small businesses grow.

I will do this by lowering taxes, reforming waste and abuse, balancing the budget and working to stop overspending as a state.

I will take my proven leadership and service to Olympia and represent my community with integrity.
