State voters displayed a puzzling inconsistency
By J.M. MEZZANOTTE
I never cease to be amazed by the state of Washington. How can the same voters who shrewdly recognized Initiative 1098 as a cynical attempt to impose a state income tax then turn around and also re-elect Patty Murray, whose support for every conceivable tax-and-spend program is unrivaled in Congress? How can an electorate that once again felt the need to encumber its representatives with a ballot measure requiring a two-thirds vote to raise taxes by and large re-elect the same group of worthless scoundrels who overturned a previous state law that imposed the very same restrictions? Is it possible to test voters for schizophrenia before mailing them a ballot? J.M. Mezzanotte is Port Orchard resident.
