Capitalism fails to solve problem

In his Aug. 13 letter (“Angel fighting for affordable housing”), Rick Cortes says Jan Angel will cut land-use restrictions to encourage development and make housing more affordable.

Amazing. Meanwhile, you can’t swing a cat in Kitsap County without hitting a vacant house.

It’s a classic example of the true logic of capitalism — homeless people and empty homes.

While Angel represents the more reactionary wing of politics, her Democratic opponent can’t give us much better, since they both have to follow the money.

Maybe we need a new system.
