Shame on teachers for taking children hostage
Shame on South Kitsap teachers if they strike. Shame on them anyway for taking the education of our children hostage.
I am an ex-teacher and father of two public school-age children here. I spent most of my working life in the private sector where almost every year there were new budget constraints and sometimes drastic ones.
The message was: Do more with less. It got tiresome. We found ways to be creative with existing resources; we reviewed priorities and adjusted projects. But we kept on working while we searched for more efficient methods.
We accepted those jobs just like public school teachers accepted theirs. Conditions are not static. Nobody has ripped anybody off here. There are no multi-million dollars salaries sopping up what might be more teacher salaries.
There simply isn't enough money; so do more with less! Buck up, get to work on time when you should on Sept. 4 and show your students a good example and get on with it. Then work to find better solutions while you are working.
