City needs new councilmembers

People don’t be hoodwinked! Port Orchard does not need a new plan of government! Port Orchard needs some new City Council members! In Port Orchard some of our current city council has forgotten one of the key lessons we all learned in kindergarten, play well with others. Some of the city council believes they know what is best for us (which translates to what is best for them) more than we do.

Our current city council has been so unwilling to work with the mayor (elected by the majority of the people) that they want to change the rules of government so they alone will elect the mayor. That’s right folks, if Port Orchard goes to the council-manager plan of government the city council will elect one of their own to be mayor and will hire a city manager to do their bidding with the people of the city.

They will also have the ability to legislate from committee, no public input, just publish a one paragraph notice on the 15th page of a local newspaper, four council members show up for breakfast and make it code/law. We, the people need to have the ability to choose our executive branch of government (mayor), and our legislative branch of government (city council) these are meant to be separate and we need to keep them separate. Please vote!
