Throw the rascals out

In less than 30 days, we will be asked to select representatives to our governments for the next two to four years. I suggest we do our homework before casting our ballots.

In Washington state, we continuously stand on the brink of financial disaster because our representatives cannot control their spending habits.

Law requires a balanced budget. Law does not require spending every penny government can extract from citizens.

Our Constitution establishes the responsibilities of government. Our representatives have continuously expanded that list of responsibilities to a level well beyond what we actually authorized and in many cases contrary to our expressed wishes.

The only way to fix the spending problem is to replace the offenders.

It’s time to send the incumbents home and send new representatives to Olympia.

We will give them two years to make a difference. If they fail, we vote them out and try again.

Our county is no different. A balanced budget based on spending every dollar squeezed from taxpayers does not equate to responsible fiscal policy. It’s time for a new set of Commissioners who are willing to reduce spending.

It’s your wallet and your vote. Note the connection and vote wisely.
