The Christmas miracle the community of South Kitsap worked for occurred late Monday afternoon.

As a lifelong resident of Port Orchard, with family long rooted in South Kitsap, I cannot recall an event when so many people came together in such a totally unselfish cause.

At a time when our country faces economic gloom and doom, the hope and generous outpouring of support that occurred over the past seven days has become for us — the “Week of the A&W Miracle.”

It has restored a feeling of pride in our community and indisputable faith that when we all join in a common cause, we can make miracles happen.

As a piece of small-town America, we stood as one, and proved that in Port Orchard, it is indeed “A Wonderful Life.”

Merry Christmas.
