Next commissioner
needs common sense
Recently Port of Bremerton Commissioner Cheryl Kincer announced she would not be running for a second term. That’s good news.
Let’s not forget the largest tax increase ever approved by the port commissioners was voted on by Kincer, Commissioner Bill Mahan and former Commissioner Mary Ann Huntington in 2006.
This huge (150 percent) tax increase was specifically to fund a $34 million Bremerton Marina for people fortunate enough to own a yacht.
Who will be the next port commissioner? Hopefully someone who has the respect of the people the represent and someone mindful of the taxpayers.
We also need a commissioner who is 100 percent transparent with the people of Kitsap County.
The voters need to elect a commissioner who has the common sense and insight to realize that the Port of Bremerton’s SEED project is just another risky investment for Kitsap taxpayers.
The SEED program would rely almost entirely on taxpayer dollars. It needs to be put on the grave forever.
Do you want your hard-earned dollars wasted on SEED?
I say no way.
