Letters to the Editor

Chang mindful of past, future

I’ve known Fred Chang for about eight years.

I’ve grown to respect Fred by seeing the dedication he has to his work on the Port Orchard City Council.

I believe it is important to retain Fred Chang and let him apply his dedication as our city looks forward to development and change.

Change seems to be in the air; people are talking about the new population signs brought by the recent annexation of McCormick Woods.

I hear residents and property owners wonder about the plans for and timing of downtown area development and its impact.

I am curious myself. How will development impact our waterfront?

What can businesses expect? How will the library, other services, and traffic be impacted?

And I wonder who — if anyone — is keeping in mind that we’d like to preserve some of what makes Port Orchard unique and our home.

I spoke with Fred Chang recently on development issues and about my concern to preserve our city’s charm as we grow.

Fred appreciates the value of both development and local charm.

Fred sees public input as a balancing force to let us develop and keep what we love about this city.

Support Fred Chang and retain him on the Port Orchard City Council.
