Letters to the Editor

Hey, Tacoma — mind your own business

Let me ask you this question. If thousands of Canadians were streaming over the border into Washington state every day transporting drugs and diseases, robbing and murdering Washington state citizens, clogging our emergency rooms and increasing our medical costs, stuffing our classrooms with kids that can’t speak English and requiring all of us to pay higher property taxes to feed and educate their children while they demand (not request) social services from you and me, would you be mad?

If Washington state had asked for help in enforcing existing federal laws to stop the flow of illegal immigration from Canada into Washington state for years and years and as federal government stood idly by and did absolutely nothing, then would you be mad?

When you finally had enough and demanded that the Washington State Legislature simply take the federal immigration law and copy it word for word into the Washington state law books so that the police in Washington state could legally do what the federal government is required to do but won’t, would you then be mad that people who know nothing about the personal impact of these illegal immigrants on your life and your community decided to “rebuke” you?

Shame on the Tacoma City Mayor Strickland and councilmembers Fey, Walker, Mello and Woodards for opposing the constitutional rights of Arizona to protect and defend itself from foreign invasion.

Their stupid and unnecessary action will only encourage further aggression by these foreign invaders and will serve to leave the barn door wide open for these illegal immigrants to enter the United States through Arizona and freely move north to Washington, where we will become the next Arizona.

If you doubt that, maybe you should take a drive around Yakima.

It seems to me Tacoma has enough troubles of its own and should be the last city on earth to be throwing rocks at others.

The mayor was quoted as saying the Arizona law will “jeopardize public safety.”

Sadly, the public safety of the legal citizens of Arizona has already been violated.

She also says the Arizona law is “un-American” and violates the “constitutional right of due process,” but the Constitution protects legal citizens of the United States, not illegal invaders from a foreign country.

You know what? The Tacoma City Council and its mayor have more than enough work to keep them busy right there in Tacoma.

They should spend more time “earning” the pay they are receiving from the people of Tacoma by concentrating on fixing the many problems of Tacoma and leave the state of Arizona to figure out how to solve its own problems.

They seem to be doing a better job than Tacoma.
