SK boys rout Shelton, regain tie for fourth place

February 6, 2012 · Updated 9:08 PM

Devon Newquist scored 15 points to help lead South Kitsap to a 69-30 romp over Shelton on Monday night.

South jumped out to a 19-5 first-quarter lead over Shelton, which has not won a league game this season, and stretched its advantage to 47-11 at halftime.

The road win lifts the Wolves (6-7, 10-9 overall) back into a tie for fourth-place in the Class 4A Narrows League with Gig Harbor, which lost Monday night to Central Kitsap.

South Kitsap finishes the regular season with a home game Wednesday night against Mount Tahoma, while Gig Harbor plays in Tacoma against Stadium. If the Wolves and Tides, who split their two games this season, wind up tied for fourth place, there will be a one-game playoff for the league's fourth spot at districts.
