SK preps 4-15

Erika Qunit struck out 11 South Kitsap betters Wednesday afternoon to help Central Kitsap to an 8-3 win over the Wolves in Narrows League Bridge Division fastpitch action.
The Cougars jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead before South cut the margin to 5-3 late in the game. CK added insurance runs late to hand the Wolves their first league loss of the year.
Natalie Peapea paced the Wolves with a pair of hits while Brianna McGinnis and Caty Lieseke had hits as well.
South, 3-3 overall and 3-1 in division play, played host to Gig Harbor late Friday in a battle for third place in the division.
Souths junior varsity team beat CK 13-0 behind the pitching of Mercedes Flerx and Kirstie Cosgrove.

SK golfers hang with Bellarmine: Stephanie Davison carded a round of 43 and scored 29 points for the South Kitsap girls golf team as the Wolves hung nicely with defending Class 4A state champion Bellarmine on Wednesday in a nine-hole match played at Trophy Lake.
Bellarmine outscored South 134-89 using the Stableford scoring system but the Wolves had nice rounds from Davison and Kate Clark, who shot a 45 and scored 27 points.
The Wolves, now 2-1 on the year, faced Olympic late Thursday and have a match against North Kitsap on Tuesday at Meadowmeer Country Club.

 Baseball JVs sweep Cougars: The South Kitsap junior varsity baseball team remained unbeaten on the year with a pair of wins over Central Kitsap this week.
The junior Wolves got solid pitching from Drew Saddler in an 8-3 win on Tuesday. Saddler went five innings and struck out four batters while allowing just a single hit.
Brad Johnson slammed a three-run homer in the first inning for South while Cameron Pettay went 3-for-4 with a stolen base and Matt Woodriff drove in a run on a pair of hits.
Wednesday saw the Wolves hang on for a 10-8 win as Todd Dalrymple, Woodriff and Pettay all went 3-4 at the plate.
Dalrymple had a double while Pettay and Woodriff each knocked in a run. Trevor Seals was 2-3 with a home run and a double, good enough for two RBI.
South golfers prevail against Shelton: Joel Schenfeld fired an even par 72 Tuesday at Trophy Lake to lead the South Kitsap boys golf team to a 149-116 win over Shelton.
Schenfeld was one of three SK golfers to shoot in the 70s as Jonathan Murphy carded a round of 77, while Marcus Lacey ended up firing a 79. Kenneth Eisenhut shot an 80 while Luke DeVault cared an 81 for the 4-0 Wolves.
South faced Olympic late Thursday and will face off with North Kitsap Monday at Port Ludlow.
 SK netters split with CK, Bellarmine: The South Kitsap girls tennis team split a pair of matches with Central Kitsap and Bellarmine this week.
South played tough but lost to Bellarmine 5-0 despite solid play from Charlotte Duren and Emerald Armstrong, who lost 5-7 in the deciding set of their doubles match.
Hillary Oliver and Kristine Wright also had a good showing in their doubles loss while Emily Hulscher made her singles debut and played extremely well.

SK lacrosse team suffers setback:Â Chris Hulet scored three goals and had an assist but Puyallup topped South Kitsap 10-7 in lacrosse action this week. Jessie Barich, Jimmy Gunter, Cameron Caviness and Dustin Eddy all scored goals for South while Taylor Cryder added two assists.
David Walker recorded 20 saves for South.
