South Kitsap hoops

SKHS basketball coach John Callaghan and his coaching staff will hold a summer camp June 23-26 at South Kitsap High School.

Students in fourth through sixth grade compete on those days from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., while seventh through ninth graders work from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The camps are developed to teach individual development of fundamental skills and terminology used by the Wolves.

Registration is limited to the first 50 students in each camp.

Both camps are $50.

Registration forms are available at Buck’s A&W on Mile Hill Drive and at South.

Former Olympic star

holds wrestling camp

Ozzie Saxon, an assistant coach at Ohio University and 2000 Olympic High School graduate, will hold his Technique/Competition Camp from June 30 to July 3 at Olympic.

The camp features two sessions, the first from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and the second from noon to 2:30 p.m. each day.

Instruction will focus on takedown techniques, pinning combinations, escapes, riding techniques and other moves.

There won’t be an afternoon session the last day.

The camp is $150 and will be limited to the first 60 applicants.

Registration deadline is June 21.
