Cooper playing key role for nationally ranked WWU volleyball squad

Rachelle Cooper, a 2001 SK grad, is continuing her solid season on the Western Washington University volleyball team. The team is ranked No. 25 in the NCAA Division II top 25 poll and they are currently riding on a school-record 14-match winning streak. WWU (14-3 overall, 9-0 GNAC) recently defeated Seattle Pacific University in four games. Cooper contributed 11 kills. Cooper, who has been starting the majority of the season, is fourth on the team in kills, and only 10 kills away from being second on the team. Shes also third on the team in blocks with 26...2001 SK grads Beth Rosapepe, Emily Picinich, and Kristin Haas are amongst the top eight runners on WWUs cross country team. At the WWU 6K Invitational Sept. 29, Picinich placed 33rd, Haas was 38th, and Rosapepe took 49th...Their former SK teammate Natalie Rasmussen is enjoying a solid season at the University of Tulsa.
At the Oral Roberts University Oklahoma Classic Saturday, Rassmussen helped lead the Golden Hurricane to first-place with a ninth-place finish (18:46.73). Rasmussen placed 17th (18:55.4) at the Baylor University 5K Invitational Sept. 22...2000 SK grad Jimmy Newell, has been limited to his playing time for the University of Washingtons football team. The safety had off-season shoulder surgery and is still not 100 percent. In three games Newell has six tackles, but could still medical reshirt the remainder of the season since it fall under 25 percent of games played.
