Wolves sweep Shelton in basketball

Derrick Webb scored 20 points and pulled down eight rebounds, while Tippy Burk dished out seven assists and scored eight points as the No. 3-ranked South Kitsap Wolves remained the state’s only undefeated Class 4A team with a 72-40 win at Shelton Friday night.

The Wolves, playing without senior wing Jamil Moore, moved to 14-0 on the year and 8-0 in Narrows League Bridge Division play.

Moore sat out the game with a hamstring injury but is expected back for tonight’s game with Port Angeles.

Webb led all scorers, while Conner Gehring netted 12 and Josh Monagle added 10.

The South junior varsity, 8-2, beat Shelton 57-40 behind 15 points from Larry Dearth and 10 each from Jared Privatt and Dexter Jefferies.

The Wolves' sophomore team recorded a 55-52 win to move to 5-4 on the year. Matt Burton scored 12 for SK with Griffin Powell added 10.

• SK girls stay in playoff hunt with win: Morgan Wiggin scored 12 points while Megan Gilbert added 11 as the South Kitsap girls basketball team won for the third time in its last four games with a 57-48 in over Shelton.

The win moves the Wolves to 9-5 overall and 5-3 in Narrows League Bridge Division play. South is tied for third with Bremerton and is at Port Angeles tonight.

The SK junior varsity lost 54-46 as Michelle Webber scored 20 points while Casey Wernet had 10 rebounds.
