Entering Thursday night's Narrows League crossover match pitting South Kitsap against Olympia, Wolves' coach Chad Nass knew the Narrows League title would come down to three key weights: 130, 140 and 160.

“We felt like if we could win two of those three, that would be the difference,” Nass said. “We went out and we won all three.”

Garrett Lyman, Bobby Arndsee and Orry Perez took care of their business at those respective weights and their teammates did the rest as South won the Narrows League title with a convincing 41-19 win.

The victory was the 123 consecutive dual-match win for the program and propels this bunch into next week's sub-regional in Bremerton.

“It's definitely a springboard into the sub-regional,” Nass said. “Just hope we can carry that momentum into next weekend. I was really impressed in how we wrestled tonight.”

Arndsee got the Wolves off to a fast start with his 17-8 major decision over Doug McLess in the 140-pound match. Perez followed three matches later with an 8-4 win over Ryan Perkins, an opponent Perez had lost two just five days earlier. Garrett Lyman, going at 140 pounds, made it a clean sweep of the three key matches, winning his by a pin.

“The kids just wrestled really well, top to bottom,” Nass said. “There were some matches we lost on points but we won moral victories. Kids just stepping up like they have all year when we've asked them too and tonight was no different.”

Josiah Kipperberg, Robbie Luder, Brent Chriswell and Kyle Saltsgaver all won their matches by pin while Brandon Kelly and Olympia's Sophath Heang, going at 135 pounds, provided the night's most entertaining match as Heang picked up a point as time expired to win 5-4.

The Wolves finished 10-0 in dual matches and head into the sub-regional Feb. 4-5 at Bremerton.
