What are your feelings on last year’s 4-6 record, South’s worst season in over 25 years?

• “Last year was a rebuilding season for us but we’ll bring back a lot of experience with us this year. Hopefully, it will be a lot better. Actually, I know it will be a lot better this year.”

Which game on this year’s schedule are you most looking forward to?

• “The first game, Mercer Island. We’re going to take it game by game. I’m not really looking ahead on the schedule.”

What can you do personally to help this team succeed?

• “Bring more leadership to this team by being more vocal.”

This season will be considered a success if...

• “We all work and play to the level we can because I know we can be a really good team. We just have to play hard and do our own jobs instead of worrying about other people’s jobs.”

Thing most likely said by you in the huddle...

• “23 Iso” (shorthand for South’s bread-and-butter running play, 23 isolation).

Mike Cook

Class: Senior

Height/Weight: 5-11, 244

Position: Starting left guard on offense and will see time on the defensive lime as well.

What are your feelings on last year’s 4-6 record, South’s worst season in over 25 years?

• “It was definitely underachieving. We didn’t do as well as we hoped. But this year we’ll bounce back.”

Which game on this year’s schedule are you most looking forward to?

• “I’m looking forward to Gig Harbor because they’ve taken us the last two years. It would be fun to take it back from them.”

What can you do personally to help this team succeed?

“Bring a little bit more energy and experience to the offensive line. And just get after it.”

This season will be considered a success if...

• “We all execute, we all do our jobs like we know we can. Just go out and do our jobs.”

• “Keep up the good work. I don’t know, I’m not a very vocal guy.”

Monte Enyeart

Class: Senior

Height/Weight: 5-8, 182

Position: Starting wideout and safety.

What are your feelings about last year’s 4-6 record, South’s worst season in over 25 years?

• “It was disappointing. We had talent but we didn’t execute like we should have. We underachieved.”

Which game on this year’s schedule are you most looking forward to?

• “Game No. 1. Then after that, game No. 2. Just taking it game by game.”

What can you do personally to help this team succeed?

• “Step up my play. Hopefully the younger players will step up their play after the leadership that the seniors give.”

This season will be considered a success if...

• “We all have to execute and do our jobs 110 percent and it will all fall into place. Winning is everyone doing their job and executing to their fullest ability.”

Thing most likely said by you in the huddle...

• “Get going. Don’t worry about it if you had a bad play. Worry about the next play.”

Kyle Saltsgaver

Class: Senior

Height/Weight: 6-1, 236

Position: Starting tackle on offense and end of defense.

What are your feelings on last year’s 4-6 record, South’s worst season in over 25 years?

• Last year was unexpected and it was disappointing. But at the same time, it drives me to compete this year and it helps everyone else to get going.”

Which game on this year’s schedule are you most looking forward to?

• “I’m looking forward to all the games – I want to win every game.”

What can you do personally to help this team succeed?

• “I have to show leadership. Everyone has to step up and be very vocal, have fun and fly to the ball. Just get going.”

This season will be considered a success if...

• “We all have fun and show effort. Going all out on every down until the last whistle blows, that would make it a success.”

Thing most likely said by you in the huddle...

• “Me and (defensive lineman Dan) Tajalle tend to yell at each other a lot, like, ‘Keep going, and good work.’ On defense it’s just, ‘Go, go, go, go,’ and on offense it’s just, ‘Do your job. Keep your head up.’”
