SK preps 1-11

Sharissa Pauley and Catalina Borrero combined to score 25 points Friday night as the South Kitsap girls’ basketball team put a scare into Central Kitsap before falling 44-42 in Narrows League Bridge Division action.

Pauley scored a game-high 14 points to lead the Wolves while Borrero netted 11 for South, now 2-8 overall and 1-3 in league play.

Randie Lee and Kayla Bennett scored 10 point each to pace the unbeaten Cougars.

South is at North Kitsap Wednesday night at home Friday in a matchup with Bremerton.

•Â South swimmers sweep past North Kitsap: The South Kitsap boys swim team swept the top three places in two events on its way to a 112-71 Narrows League Bridge Division win over North Kitsap last week.

The Wolves took the top three spots in diving and in the 100-yard breaststroke and qualified a number of swimmers for next month’s district meet.

A.J. LaVair, Josh Jones and Zech Jones went one-two-three in diving while Caleb Mortiz, Cade Stephens and Jimmy Beverage did the same in the 100 breast, with Stephens posting a district-qualifying time.

Jesse DeBrock won the 100 freestyle for the Wolves with a district-qualifying time and also qualified in the 200 individual medley, as did Adam Solomon. Kyle Hawkins took second in the 200 freestyle with a district qualifying time while Bryant Bartlett and Derek Drevniak each qualified in the 100 butterfly. Drevniak also qualified in the 100 backstroke.

The Wolves went up against Central Kitsap Tuesday and face Olympic Thursday. The West Central District meet is set for Feb. 3-4.

• Bowlers take match against Olympic: Jackie Murray rolled a high series of 383 to lead the South Kitsap girls bowling team to a two-game win over Olympic last week in Narrows League Bridge Division action.

Murray recorded games of 210 and 173 to lead the way for South, which won the match 844-809 and 819-689.

The Wolves have matches with Klahowya and Bremerton this week.
