SK preps 5-6
The South Kitsap girls fastpitch softball team rallied to beat Port Angeles 10-7 on Wednesday afternoon and remain in the hunt for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Narrows League Bridge Division.
The Wolves, 7-7 overall and 7-5 in division play, closed out the regular season late Friday at North Kitsap.
The two teams will finish the bottom of the seventh inning of the April 19 game that was played under protest by South Kitsap before playing the regularly scheduled contest.
North won the first meeting in Port Orchard 4-1, but South coach Kathy Ballew played the game under protest after not being allowed to re-enter a player in the seventh inning. That game will pick up with two outs in the bottom of the seventh with North ahead 4-1.
South is fighting it out with Olympic for the final postseason berth.
If South beats North and Olympic loses its last game against Gig Harbor, South would advance.
If Olympic bests the Tides and South loses, the Trojans would advance.
If the two teams end up tied, there would be a one-game playoff, most likely Monday afternoon at a neutral site to determine the final spot.
The Narrows League Tournament will be held May 11 with the Bridge and Bay Division No. 3s and 4s playing loser-out, winner-to-district games.
