SK Western loses
in championship
Eastlake captured a 9-7 win on Saturday against South Kitsap Western Little League in the 10- and 11-year-old state championship game at Sunset Park in Auburn.
SK Western led until the fifth inning, when Eastlake scored seven runs to take a 9-5 lead.
The setback ended Western’s season.
Western played eight consecutive days and eliminated Aberdeen, Federal Way, Richland, Lake Stevens and Salmon Creek en route to the title game.
“I wonder sometimes if they know how good they are,” Western manager Mark Knowles said. “They played incredible baseball with the exception of the fifth inning in the championship game, when we gave Eastlake five or six outs.”
